What is Sunscreen?
Sunscreens are products whose active ingredients have SPF (Sun Protection Factor) properties. What does that mean? It means that the ingredients, once on your skin, provide varying levels of protection against The Sun’s rays. These active ingredients fall into two categories; Physical blocks and Chemical blocks.
What Is the difference between physical and chemical sunscreen and which is best for me?
The active ingredients and science behind them are what categorizes sunblock into either Physical or Chemical protection. Physical blocks active ingredients are going to be metals such as Zinc and Titanium. These metals sit on top of the skin and physically reflect the UV rays away from the skin. Thus preventing contact to the skin and preventing sun damage. Chemical blocks, whose active ingredients include Avobenzone, work by diffusing those damaging sun rays into light that will not damage and age skin. Which would be best for my skin?
